My mother's house was foreclosed, then a week later they threw all of her things out. Is that legal in the US?

I'm willing to bet they provided notice to her quite a while ago about the foreclosure through mail and through postings on her front door. If she chose to ignore those notices and warnings, then they have every right to evict her since that house and property no longer belong to her.
