I am 13 weeks an have had a terrible cough and cold for about a week?

I am taking Robitussin DM for the cough and congestion because my doctor said it was ok...I have been sick for a week now...only been taking the Robitussin for 2 days...has anyone else had this experience in their pregnancy? and what did you do to get rid of it? Thanks in advance for your answers!
